Elizabeth & Liam's Winter Wedding at Crug Glas Country House

Grace Ell

The new year couldn’t have started on a more beautiful note as I had the honour of photographing Elizabeth and Liam’s wedding—my very first wedding of 2025! Their celebration was a testament to the magic of small, intimate affairs, set against the enchanting backdrop of Crug Glas Country House.

A perfect winter’s day - Elizabeth and Liam’s wedding day dawned bright and crisp, with golden sunlight illuminating the frosty January morning. The couple had chosen Crug Glas for its cosy charm and idyllic countryside setting, and it did not disappoint.

Elizabeth and Liam’s day began at the beautiful Country House, where they both got ready surrounded by their children. Having the entire family prepare together at the venue created a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, and it also gave me the perfect opportunity to capture special moments from both sides.

Elizabeth got ready in a top suite, with her daughter close by, helping her with final touches and sharing quiet moments of excitement. Meanwhile, Liam and his son were in a nearby room, tying ties and sharing laughs as they prepared for the day. These getting-ready moments were not just about the anticipation but also about the bond this family shares. It was a joy to document these candid interactions, from the giggles and stolen glances to the kids’ pride in seeing their parents step into this next chapter together.

Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Elizabeth and Liam exchanged heartfelt vows in a ceremony filled with emotion and joy. The intimacy of the moment was undeniable, a true reflection of their deep connection and the love that brought them together. Adding a personal and family-focused touch, their two children played significant roles in the day as bridesmaid and best man. Elizabeth and Liam shared a touching “first look” before the ceremony, a moment that set the tone for the day. Then, in a heartwarming gesture of unity, the four of them—bride, groom, bridesmaid, and best man—walked into the ceremony together.

The children were remarkable, not only standing by their parents’ sides but also speaking during the ceremony with poise and sincerity. They even took charge of the rings, ensuring they were delivered with pride and care. Adding their unique perspective to the day, the kids had their own cameras, capturing candid moments and giving the celebration a creative twist through their eyes.

After the ceremony, we took a short trip to Aberiddy Beach for some truly special photos. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the rugged coastline. Despite the chill in the air, Elizabeth and Liam’s warmth and connection shone through every frame. Their playful laughter and quiet moments of affection against the backdrop of the rolling waves and dramatic cliffs made for some of my favourite shots of the day. The golden hour light was simply magical, highlighting their love most breathtakingly.

We returned to Crug Glas just as the sun dipped below the horizon. Inside, guests were treated to a delightful high tea, complete with tiered trays of scones, finger sandwiches, and sweet treats. The intimate setting allowed everyone to relax, mingle, and share stories, adding to the day’s charm.

The evening concluded with a sparkler exit.  Elizabeth and Liam were surrounded by their loved ones, holding sparklers in the crisp night. The laughter and cheers as they walked through the sparkling tunnel perfectly captured the joy of the day—and the beginning of their new journey together as husband and wife.

Elizabeth and Liam’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that love truly is the best way to start a new year. It was an honour to document their special day and witness the deep connection they share. Here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness for this wonderful couple!
